The International Session of the European Youth Parliament in Athens (April 1 - 10, 2011) will bring together 260 young people between 16 and 22 years of age from 33 European countries as well as local youth from Athens. They will divide into 15 international “committees” with the aim to each draft a resolution on a current topic of European politics. The delegates formulate their own ideas based on real documents and resources, yet with the aim to propose innovative solutions to common European issues with a special focus on citizenship and the participation of young people in the Europe of the future. The resolutions will then be debated in a parliamentary assembly. Additionally, the International Session will include a series of cultural events promoting intercultural exchange and dialogue and celebrating Europe’s rich cultural diversity.
By taking part in the Session, the young participants will go through a non-formal as well as informal learning experience aimed at the promotion of European citizenship, active participation and intercultural dialogue.
The International Session will be organised by voluntary active young people aged between 18 and 25 making the Session an entirely youth driven project.
