The Impact of EYP

With its International Sessions, National Conferences, Fora, and many other events, EYP touches the lives of roughly 20,000 young Europeans – every year.
In every single participant, we aim at

• Raising awareness for European politics and issues of current relevancy,
• Encouraging active democratic citizenship, Promoting and enabling European understanding and inter-cultural dialogue,
• Contributing to the youngster’s personal development and employability by procuring key qualifications such as language skills, communication, negotiation and participation skills.
  

Our goals are high. Of course, we are interested to find out to what extent we continue to meet that challenge. For this reason, we conduct a standardised evaluation after each of our International Sessions among participants, accompanying teachers and the organising team.

We are proud to state that in general, our Sessions are always hugely successful in reaching out to the young participants. In 2005, for example, an overwhelming majority estimated that not only did they improve their knowledge on Europe, its policies and institutions, but they also boosted their personal development:

In detail, this is shown in the participants’ perception of having increased their ability to work in an international team (an average 90% strongly believed so) and having gained life-long competences such as communication, language or participation skills (78%):

What is more, the accompanying teachers unequivocally estimate that their students take part in a unique event, raising their awareness for European issues (100%), conveying to them the values of democracy, intercultural dialogue and working with other nations for a common good (100%):
